Privacy Policy

Following the amendments to the Federal Privacy Act 1988 we thought it fit to formalise our policy in relation to our clients' confidential information.

Because we work in the area of tax and investment we obviously become privy to financial information (and of course Tax File Numbers) which we regard as highly confidential.

Our policy in relation to this confidential information is as follows:

1. Our clients business is their business and we are placed in the position of trustees of any information relating to their businesss.
     
2. Our duty as trustees is to protect and preserve that information in a secure manner so that it is only disclosed to third parties (including the Australian Tax Office) with the authority of our clients.
     
3. Staff access to that information is restricted to performing duties related strictly to providing service for that client.

This brings with it complications when financial institutions require client information directly from us.  Please note:

• We are unable to release any financial information without a signed written authority from the client indicating exactly what information to release.
    
• In the case of TAX returns - since we do not file paper copies (everything is filed and backed up on computer) there is a cost associated with this service as it requires time to execute the request.

All personal information collected by Rodney Gibson and Associates on this site is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth of Australia) and the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2001.

Viewers of this site should be aware that there are inherent risks in transmitting information across the Internet.  While the risk of anyone intercepting and misusing information transmitted either by email or by interactive forms on this site is low, users should be aware that a risk does exist.

Users who have concerns about transmitting information through this site should contact Rodney Gibson by phone, fax or mail.

Any and all information collected through this website including contact information, email addresses and order requirements will be kept strictly confidentially and will not be sold, re-used, rented, loaned, traded, leased or otherwise disclosed to a third party, except where prior written permission is obtained from the individual who supplied the information and to whom the information refers.

Rodney Gibson and Associates Pty Ltd collects and records information for the purpose of providing services to current and potential customers; and to facilitate statistical analysis for system administration purposes.

Rodney Gibson and Associates Pty Ltd will take all reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information collected from users is both physically and technologically secure.  Any information no longer required will be destroyed.

'Cookies' may be used in the collection of data for statistical purposes.  A cookie is an electronic token that allows the server (where the Rodney Gibson website is located) to identify and interact more effectively with the user's computer.  During an interactive process a cookie may be sent to the user's computer to assign a unique identification number.  A different identification number is sent each time a user visits the site and at the end of each interactive session the cookie is removed - therefore it cannot be used for further identification.
